A.B. is an Oregon-born, New York-based artist and alternative darkroom printer. He holds a BFA in photography from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Alex is an interdisciplinary artist whose work blends theory and practice to explore ideas of tactile memory, physical communication, and the shared human experience. He invites viewers, though he prefers the term "collaborators", to taste, smell, hear and touch his work; to share in an experience with him so that we might, collectively, learn to speak and connect with each other in a new way.
A.B. has exhibited internationally at the Samuel Dorsky Museum, The Artbar Gallery, the Newburg Community Photo Project Gallery, The Sojourner Truth Library, and the Space Place Gallery in Nizhny Tagil, Russia. He is the recipient of the 2022 Giancarlo Traverso Award and a 2021 inaugural Truth be Told Fellow with the Newburgh Community Photography Project.
